Art Events for November...

by Lissie Mackintosh

November’s here and you know what that means, Winter is coming. When it’s cold out, who doesn’t want to be inside exploring the most magical art events London has to offer this November? So, wrap up warm, grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte, and go and check one out.

1. FOR THE MUSIC LOVERS Gallery Concert: Delius and Gauguin, National Gallery

1st November

‘An evening of piano, violin and song by Delius and Mallarmé…’ – Explore Gauguin’s work as a body of work influenced by composers Frederick Delius and poet Stéphane Mallarmé, by experiencing the sounds Gauguin felt inspired by and drew inspiration from. Travel back in time to 1891 when this exact music guided Gauguin’s hand to create a portrait of Mallarmé himself… or just sit back, relax and enjoy some brill, chill music for a full 90 minutes. Bliss.

2. FOR THE NIGHT OWL RA Lates: Deep Earth, Royal Academy of Arts

23rd November

A special, all-immersive experience at the RA which offers SO. MANY. COOL. THINGS. Inspired by new RA exhibitions: Antony Gormley, Eco-Visionaries and Lucian Freud; the programme for the evening boasts secret underground bars, live DJs and even illuminated dance floors. I promise it’s worth the damage to your bank account… I promise!

Tickets available through here!

3. FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Photography for Whom? Panel Discussion, The Photographer’s Gallery

14th November

A good ol’ panel discussion with Anthony Luvera, Shirley Read and Trevor Appleson on the changing engagement between society and photography, this event won’t disappoint. Hosted at the incredible, intimate Photographers’ Gallery and with the chance to see photos which are now out of print whilst listening to not one but two artists and a curator giving their two pennies worth, what’s not to love?

Tickets available at The Photographers' Gallery website

4. FOR THE ONE WHO LOVES TO PLAY DRESS UP: The Uncanny Masked Ball, Freud Museum

1st November

Let’s face it, Halloween’s one of the most fun nights of the year, but especially on the night after the night before, wearing a mask to hide the damage maaaay be an ideal situation. Join in the celebration of the new winter exhibition, ‘The Uncanny: A Centenary’ by throwing on a mask and enjoying the talks, workshops and even horror films on offer. Let’s face it, Halloween is ftw.

Tickets available on Eventbrite.

5. FOR THE FORWARD PLANNER: Making it: Careers in Art and Design, Victoria and Albert Museum

23rd November

Sure, it’s cool to find an event offering talks, workshops and portfolio advice that’s going to get you a head start in your career and all, but it’s even cooler to find out that the aforementioned event is, indeed, free! What’s not to love? Apart from the fact that it’s at 11am on a Saturday… it's totally cool to go to a networking event with last night’s makeup on, right?

Tickets available at the V&A Museum website.

We'd love to hear from you!
