End of Term SU Update!

Well done on getting to the end of another long term! Hope you’re all currently having a well-earned break!

This term has seen continuing changes in the SU. It was very exciting to see the launch of Courtauldian Online (currently hosting this article). To give the Courtauldian a platform to host articles all year round our dedicated web team have worked tirelessly to make the stunning new website. If you would like to write anything for the Courtauldian Online please email the.courtauldian@courtauld.ac.uk.

We would also like to welcome our new Women’s Officer, Lily Evans-Hill, to the SU Committee. She will be working hard with us to review and deal with any issues affecting women at the Courtauld so please email her if you have any concerns or questions.

The SU also hosted the Courtauld Spring Party, a new event for our social calendar which was held at Drink Shop Do. We hope you all had a good time and are all looking forward to our Summer Ball which is being held on the 12th June at the Savile Club. We are currently in the process of booking our events for the evening so hope you’re all excited for that!

Although not Student Union events, it was great to see TEDxCourtauldInstitute 2016 and East Wing Biennial launching their event and exhibition respectively this term. With lots of our students involved in these projects, it was amazing to see the hard work and dedication which both teams put in.

As next term will be my last as President, we will be hosting elections at the beginning of the Summer Term for next year’s President, Vice President and Treasurer. Nominations are currently open for all three positions. If you are interested in applying for any of these positions you can send a manifesto explaining why you’d be suitable for the role and what you’d hope to achieve with your year to students.union@courtauld .ac.uk. It should be of no more than 500 words if applying for the President role or no more than 100 for Vice President or Treasurer. Candidates will be announced and voting will open on the 25th April and the winners will announced on the 3rd May. If you have any questions about any of the positions don’t hesitate to contact me.

The Summer Term can sometimes be a bit of a drag especially for those of you with dissertations and extended essays. If you’re having any problems or would just like to talk to somebody the office is always open to you. The Student Union will also be putting on some events to give you a break from all your hard work including the second of our Postgraduate Parties on the 28th April.

Hope you all had/are having a good break and see you soon!
